Why Bottlebrush toys and in-cage perches?

Most of you are searching the web seeking help and assistance with your birds.  These incredibly smart, energetic birds can be a real handful.  To make matters worse, unfortunately, we have a parrot industry that is more focused on selling, or scaring you into buying anything and everything they are selling for your bird, needed or not.  In reality, Parrots are among the hardiest animals there are, but need to be understood.

Parrot Toys.  Your parrot needs 2 types of parrot toys, Play Toys and Chew Toys.
Play Toys.   There are hundreds if not thousands of different Play Toys.  Plastic, Acrylic, Bells, Chains, puzzles and who knows what else are just a few.  These are exactly that, toys for your bird to play with.  Bells are a favorite.  I'm not in the Play Toy business.  When you buy Play Toys, buy good ones and they will last forever, and provide your bird with years of enjoyment.
Chew Toys.  I'm in the Chew Toy business.  Chew toys are exactly that, toys designed to be chewed up.  These are as necessary as food and water, and can be a major expense when having a parrot.  I have clients who have spent $100.00 a month, or more.  That's crazy, and frustrating for your bird.  My toys, and Bottlebrush are the solution.   Stop wasting money.

So, every parrot owner knows and understands that giving your parrots stuff to chew on is important and necessary.  So, we go the our local pet or bird store, or do as your doing, shop on line for chew toys for your bird.  We look for nice, substantial looking toys with lots of color and we buy what we think our parrot will love and enjoy.  These toys are expensive, but we tell ourselves that our birds need and deserve it, and the expense is a part of being a parrot owner.

So, we put the new toy in our parrots cage and feel satisfied that we're taking care of our birds.   For our parrot, this is like someone giving them a feast.  They can't wait for you hang it, so they can go to work.  They attack with a vengeance, and you leave them to enjoy their new chew toy.   Here's what usually happens.

In some cases, you return in an hour, or after a day or two, and you see nothing left but a bunch of splinters in the bottom of the cage.  Your bird is looking at those splinters, and is thinking, WHERE'S THE BEEF to coin an old advertising slogan.  Now, your both frustrated.

You just spent $15.00, or $20.00 or $30.00 or more for a chew toy that your bird destroyed in a flash.  Your out the money, and the guilt is back because once again, your bird has no chew toys.  So, you go back to the bird, or pet, or internet store and buy more chew toys.  This is great for all concerned except you and your bird.

Your bird looks at that new chew toy like a hungry family looking at Thanksgiving dinner.  However, it's gone to fast, didn't provide a challenge, and certainly wasn't satisfying in the least.  Over time, when you give your bird new, expensive chew toys, there comes a point where he doesn't even BOTHER with them.  After all, he's come to the realization that chew toys are no fun, so why bother.  I hear it all the time, MY BIRD DOESN'T CHEW.

I'd like to share a dirty little secret the parrot toy industry doesn't want you to know.  Those toys you buy for big bucks, that your bird destroys in no time, or ignores, are DESIGNED to do exactly what they are doing.   Most of these toys are made of what's called WHITE WOOD.  No flavor, no texture, no aroma, nothing.  Just like you or I taking a bite out of Styrofoam.   Throw white wood in some food coloring, cut it up, add some rawhide and a variety of other stuff, and presto, parrot toys.  Add more stuff, and higher price, for Macaw toys, less for smaller toys.  It's still the same wood, and will work the same way for all birds.  The winner here is the toy manufacturer, distributor and retail seller.  The loser is you and your bird.  So, what's the solution?

In 1992, I introduced a brand new perch wood to the parrot industry, called Bottlebrush.

Bottlebrush was originally imported to the South Florida area from Australia. Here's why it's the best wood for both you and your parrot.

For your parrot, the outer bark is soft, and chewy, and easy to stand on. The natural texture of the bark means your bird doesn't have to grip or hold on to it. That makes it very comfortable, even for long periods of time. The outer bark being soft means there is tons of great stuff to chew on. However, it gets even better. Once the soft outer bark is removed, the wood underneath is hard enough to allow Gnawing, the most important, and overlooked part of parrot chewing. Gnawing is critical, yet most often overlooked. Most parrot wood is either too hard, or too soft. Bottlebrush falls right in the middle, making it perfect for Chewing, and Gnawing.

For you, Bottlebrush will keep your parrot HAPPY, and last. Even though your bird can chew and gnaw on it, it will last for YEARS. Stop wasting your money buying toys and perches either your birds destroys in no time, or totally ignores. Your bird will LOVE Bottlebrush. Almost 8000 Play Gym clients, and thousands and thousands of Bottlebrush Toy and perch clients can't be wrong.

I have to comment on something I read on the internet, and Ebay listings. The idea that natural wood is BAD for your bird, and dangerous by causing disease is a perfect example of what I think is wrong with the parrot industry. These companies don't try to sell you on the benefits of their products. What they do is try to scare you by saying that if you DON'T buy what they are selling, your bird will get sick and maybe even die. This is the worse kind of advertising, and I recommend every parrot owner boycott companies that advertise like this. The idea that natural wood perches and Play Gyms are dangerous for your bird is one of the most outrageous examples of this kind of advertising. Unfortunately, our birds are the ultimate losers from these scare tactics.

If your bird is exposed to natural wood, they will have natural immunities the same way you and I have natural immunities to things we are exposed to on a daily basis. Your bird needs natural wood perches not only to stand on, but chew, and gnaw on. The idea that plastic, or naturally shaped man made perches are better for your bird is a perfect example of a product designed for YOU, not your bird.

Here's my toy and perch guarantee.  Both you, and your parrot MUST be delighted with my stuff.  If your not, return it as you received it for a full refund.  Please don't return a chewed up toy, your parrot is going to be very disappointed.

Pricing.  I manufacture these myself.  You are buying them at wholesale prices.  There is real value here, you won't do disappointed.

Lastly, I have a favor to ask.  Expand your mind.  Most of the stuff I offer are my own unique designs.   If you see something I offer that you've never seen before, that's a GOOD thing.

What's with the soup can?  It's difficult to show size in pics.  Most everyone has soup.  Compare the size of the toys to the soup can.  Hope it helps.   Click on the pics to see a bigger image.

Thanks for taking to time to read about my toys, and Bottlebrush.
